With the bomb cyclone of 2018 brewing in the air above us, many have already found refuge in the comforts of a snow day. While I was in Maine this weekend, one of my friends introduced me to the phrase “hygge”. Hygge (pronounced higgy) is a Scandinavian phrase meaning the ultimate coziness. Imagine yourself in your softest jammies with the warmest, most delicious cup of cocoa surrounded by your friends in front of a fire. Is hygge your favorite new word yet?
While I’m a nurse (whomp, sick people don’t get snow days ), and I don’t get a snow day today, I still want to recommend some of my very favorite flicks for a super hygge day.
1. Snow Day
2. Cool Runnings
3. Billy Madison
4. The Shining
5. Groundhog Day
6. The Thing
7. Mystery, Alaska
8. Super troopers
9. Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone
10. Home alone
Are you feeling hygge? We are ❄️
Not just your average gift guide. In fact, you can’t buy anything on this list. In this gift guide, you will find DIY gifts you can make in less than an hour with minimal crafting experience. Giving a homemade gift is always so special. Why? It’s an easy way to say, ‘hey, I think you’re one-of-a-kind’.
It’s not a secret that I like to make stuff but I really love to create gifts for my friends and family. Of course, I do my fair share of spending this time of year as well. But, when time allows I prefer to create. It’s a skill that I’m proud of and able to share with those I care about during this season of generosity.
Grab an ofo bike and Cruise Revere Beach
Just outside the city & accessible via public transit, Revere is the place to go take in the warm, beach-y breeze. After cruising up the blue line, just hop off to find one of the bright yellow ofo bikes & take a ride by the water. ofo sponsored us to try their bikes, but as always all opinions are my own. I’m happy to welcome ofo bikes to our community – more fun activities below –
