I love jackets and blazers, basically just all the outerwear. I have a problem, and the bar that is peeling from my closet wall agrees. As the weather gets colder, my coat isn’t just part of my outfit – it is the outfit. I want to have options, ya know? I want all the colors and details. However, if anyone has noticed, good, quality outerwear doesn’t come without a price tag. This is why I find festive blazers and coats in unexpected places.
Okay, hear me out. Forgotten treasures can be found here. If you are local to the Boston area like me, Goodwill is a mecca of items that students couldn’t fit in their suitcase come Thanksgiving break. I’ve gotten countless Patagonia fleeces, J-crew sweaters, and yes, even Hunter boots. While you have to sift through a lot of shenanigans, the best part about finding these treasures is the price tag. I’ve gotten really cute and colorful blazers that hey, if I only wear them 1-2x a year, for $5, the price checks out!
I love Poshmark. It’s a great way to find the favorites you never wear a good home, while putting money in your pocket. I usually use my Poshmark earnings as an investment account. Meaning, I sell clothes and then use that money to buy ( one ) high quality piece to add to my closet. I got this ruffled J. Crew blazer from Poshmark, and honestly I can’t get enough. The color is the perfect neutral, but the ruffle just adds the nicest detailed touch.
Mercari is another buy/sell app. What I love most about it? You can find just about anything, not just clothing on the app. Mercari’s search interface isn’t as easy to use, but the products you find are ~10% or more, less than Poshmark!
