They say to get to know someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. In the case of my grandmother, as I’ve touched upon in the previous post, it was not her shoes, but her vast collection of scarves. A few weeks ago, while on family vacation at her cozy, Canadian cottage, my cousins and I had such fun sifting through her vast scarf digest. So beautiful & colorful, we wanted to find ways to fit something that elumated so much of her personality into our everyday style.
My cousins are my very favorite people in the world, and that week was such a special time to be together. Laughing and basking in their company was just the vacation I needed from the bustling streets of the city. We grabbed baskets of wildflowers and picniced among the cattails, entertaining new ways to celebrate my grandmother’s life. From our silly woodland adventures we found some simple ways to style scarves that put a modern twist on a vintage classic.
Five style tips to use vintage scarves:
1. Head Scarf
This helped with protecting styled hair from lakeside breeze. The silky texture protected the style while hiding hair away from humidity, strong breezes, and pesky flying guests.
2. Neck Knot
This classic look adds a pop of color that serves as a vintage & lighter alterative to statement jewelry.
3. Head Band
4.On your hat
Vintage details for that breezy beachy or boathouse look.
5. As a bag – DIY post here 🙂
Dressing up with my cousins was fun, but it was also effortless. They make the best models simply because they are as patient as they are beautiful. It goes without saying that I am infinitely thankful for their wholesome beauty.
