There’s nothing I love more about morning snowfall than the dark, sleepiness of the sky. Everything is more quiet and serene, almost as if the whole world should just hit snooze for 15 more minutes. Then of course, the snore of the plows awakens the white and the weary and it’s back to the grind once again. Working the night shift, I had the best of both worlds this morning. I was just sneaking back into bed as Boston stumbled out into what was sure to be a bear of a commute. Then after a brief hibernation,I was able to explore the fresh tundra before it became dark, slushy and terribly urban.
About a year ago I stumbled upon a beautiful gem coat from J.crew and knew two things immediately: I loved it and I could never afford it. In my pining and frequent trips to the craft store I realized that I could recreate the look myself with some time and a little E6000. The end result was a perfect piece of winter sparkle on my snow day.
To make you’re own you’ll need:
- E6000 glue
- about 4 packs of backed gems or beads of your choosing (about 80 rhinestones)
- an old coat with lapels
Glue your jewels around the edges of the lapels and wait overnight for the glue to set. and viola! shiny chic 🙂
