Portland, Maine Travel Guide

Portland, Maine has been one of our favorite weekend getaway destinations for it’s coastal beauty and colonization of culinary divinities.  Portland is charmingly industrial; a place where brick walls slide down to greet the lobsterman at the water. Not to mention, when you first arrive, you are struck by the scenic lighthouses that make their home in Casco Bay. The local Mainers are both eager and welcoming to give suggestion to their favorite haunts. Portland’s inviting vibe always makes us eager to return, so when the Portland Harbor Hotel invited us to stay with them, we were excited to accept their offer.

Portland Harbor Hotel Fore Street, Portland, ME

Portland Harbor Hotel’s central location made it the perfect place to stay. The room had gorgeous coastal style touches, along with being comfortable and clean. I must confess, we watched the season finale of Stranger Things while nibbling the lobster shaped bedtime chocolates and a glass of delicious seltzer water. In the kitchenettes on the floor there is a fabulous Starbucks machine that can make you that wake-up flavor at any hour of the day. One night we dined at the PPH’s restaurant, Blue Fin, and had the best seafood meal of the trip – We recommend the curry/coconut mussels. They just updated their menu, so if you are a frequenter of Maine be sure to stop by and see what has changed !  For us, it was a great upscale experience with overall delicious food. Lastly, the valet service was easy to find with the friendliest staff. Of note, we could access the car at anytime of the day/night. It is always a treat to know you have dependable parking while on vacation! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and warm. Thank you for an exceptional stay.
