After hopefully packing my bag with springy essentials, we headed up to Portland, ME for a much deserved long weekend. In choosing the location, I wanted somewhere with New England charm, walk-able distances & fun, unique activities. Renting a small, central apartment, we got just what we carved – long sleeps, strong coffee & a daily dose of Portland’s unique, funky vibe.
Not on the itinerary, was an unexpected snow flurry that almost had me and my new suede shoes (cue Elvis) running for sanctuary. Luckily, upon purchase, I inquired about the best shoe treatment to protect my pretties from harm. Offering the store brand sealant, I cannot stress my thankfulness enough. Nothing is worse than living in snowy, salty tundra of New England and having to replace your beautiful favorite shoes annually. I used Nikwax to protect the appearance & lifespan of my shoe. There are many effective sealants available for purchase, just ensure that you read the entirety of the bottle before deciding whether its a healthy relationship for your shoe to be in. However, what I liked about this one was that the spray was light, and went on clear. My suede has the same velvet softness and color once the sealant dried. I applied more than one coat and followed the directions fiercely.
