Over the past two months my roommate and I have been cultivating a space we are eager to come home to. Despite some road blocks (still have no couch – a story for another day), we are slowly, but surely, creating a space we are proud of. One of the things we enjoy is creating, especially in our kitchen. While she is definitely more the cook in the house, I love to create cocktails – which is one reason I have many recipes as well as DIY bar carts in my future. For one reason or another, it makes me feel more adult and closer to the spirit of Martha Stewart.
Everyone has a signature cocktail for those hot summer days in the backyard. in my case, it’s the classic Mojito. While I am partial to mint, I love the cold freshness and tart flavor of this drink. It’s also a perfectly light beverage to quench summer thirst and share with company.
A few nights ago, as the wind chill boasted a negative thirty price tag, I had a hankering for summer and despite the cold, the delicious, sweet taste of a homemade roadside ice cream cone. Having some leftover stout in the fridge I felt inspired, I thought hmm? how hard could this be to make myself?
